APP-STORE STORYTELLING

Write shorter app-store screenshot captions

A caption should explain the visible benefit without competing with the interface. Use a specific statement that can be understood quickly.

Put it into practice

  1. Write the feature's benefit in plain language.
  2. Remove words already obvious from the image.
  3. Check the caption in the smallest listing preview.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

Organize your day is clearer than a paragraph listing every calendar control.

A detail to keep clear

Avoid unverifiable superlatives or performance claims that the screenshot cannot support.

Using MockupX

Store specifications are maintained by Apple and Google and can change. Check the relevant console's current requirements for the device family and asset type. MockupX creates images; it does not submit listings, validate every policy or guarantee approval.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
