APP-STORE STORYTELLING

Plan an app-store screenshot sequence before designing

A sequence is easier to follow when each image answers a different question. Plan the story before decorating individual screens.

Put it into practice

  1. Write a short purpose for each image.
  2. Arrange the main task before supporting features.
  3. Remove repeated screens that add no new information.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A sequence moves from overview to action to result.

A detail to keep clear

Do not add slides merely to fill an available upload slot.

Using MockupX

Store specifications are maintained by Apple and Google and can change. Check the relevant console's current requirements for the device family and asset type. MockupX creates images; it does not submit listings, validate every policy or guarantee approval.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
