PHONE & TABLET MOCKUPS

Tell a two-step story with two phone screens

Two screens work well when they show a clear input and result. Keep their reading order obvious.

Put it into practice

  1. Choose related states from the same workflow.
  2. Place the earlier step first in the intended reading direction.
  3. Use matching frame size and finish.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A search screen leads to a selected result rather than to an unrelated profile page.

A detail to keep clear

Avoid showing steps in a way that suggests a transition the product cannot perform.

Using MockupX

Device frames, output dimensions and source screenshot dimensions are separate choices. A phone frame on a square canvas is useful for social sharing; it is not automatically an accepted app-store upload. Check orientation, fit and output pixels independently.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.

References and further reading

Use the official references for format behavior and current destination requirements. The composition advice above is a practical design approach, not a promise of platform approval.
