PHONE & TABLET MOCKUPS

Choose a device finish that supports the screenshot

A device finish should make the screen easy to see. Treat the frame as supporting material rather than the main subject.

Put it into practice

  1. Try a neutral finish first.
  2. Compare screen-edge visibility on the background.
  3. Choose a color only when it helps the composition.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A dark frame outlines a pale interface without adding another bright accent.

A detail to keep clear

A frame color does not change the source image or prove a hardware partnership.

Using MockupX

Device frames, output dimensions and source screenshot dimensions are separate choices. A phone frame on a square canvas is useful for social sharing; it is not automatically an accepted app-store upload. Check orientation, fit and output pixels independently.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
