SCREENSHOT PREPARATION

Crop a screenshot before adding a device frame

A deliberate source crop lets the frame support the interface rather than conceal it. Remove irrelevant space while keeping enough context to explain the action.

Put it into practice

  1. Identify the control or result the image must communicate.
  2. Crop around that region with some surrounding context.
  3. Preview both fit and fill after placing it in the frame.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A chart screenshot retains its title and legend while removing unrelated navigation.

A detail to keep clear

Cropping away units or labels can change the apparent meaning of a chart.

Using MockupX

MockupX accepts pasted, dropped and uploaded images. Screen capture depends on browser support and your permission. The phone-transfer flow uses a temporary upload session. Prepare your source image before decorating it: a frame cannot recover unreadable text or remove sensitive information for you.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
