SCREENSHOT PREPARATION

Prepare realistic demo data for a product screenshot

Use representative sample content so the viewer understands the feature without seeing private customer information. The data should support the visual story.

Put it into practice

  1. Create a dedicated sample workspace.
  2. Replace names, emails and balances with clearly fictional entries.
  3. Check menus, notifications and browser tabs before capturing.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A billing dashboard uses sample invoices with readable states instead of actual customer names.

A detail to keep clear

Blurring one table cell does not remove private information from other panels or image metadata.

Using MockupX

MockupX accepts pasted, dropped and uploaded images. Screen capture depends on browser support and your permission. The phone-transfer flow uses a temporary upload session. Prepare your source image before decorating it: a frame cannot recover unreadable text or remove sensitive information for you.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
