Crop a web-app screenshot for a landing-page hero

A landing-page hero should reveal the product's core task quickly. Choose a focused state instead of showing every part of the application.

Put it into practice

  1. Select the action that supports the headline.
  2. Capture a readable viewport around that action.
  3. Check the crop in the page's mobile layout.

What this looks like

WORKED EXAMPLE

A scheduling app shows its calendar and booking controls rather than an empty home screen.

A detail to keep clear

A marketing crop should not hide information that changes the meaning of the claimed result.

Using MockupX

Browser framing communicates that the image shows a web product. Choose the browser appearance and adjust image sizing in MockupX, but use the original screenshot to decide which content matters. Decorative browser chrome does not make the underlying interface interactive.

Check the result

Keep the original screenshot, then review the exported file at the size where people will see it. Check the message, the visible interface and the final crop separately. For a handoff, record the destination and the approved file so another person can distinguish the final version from a draft.
